Station Management

Detailed guide on managing every aspect of your radio station on Kastly.

Station Settings

Configure your station's core information from the station detail page:

  • Station name - Your station's display name visible to all listeners.
  • Description - A detailed description of your station and its programming.
  • Category - The primary genre category (Music, Talk, Sports, News, etc.).
  • Logo - Upload a station logo that appears on cards and the station page.
  • Cover image - A banner image displayed on your station's page.
  • Contact information - Phone numbers and email for listener contact.
Stream Management

Manage your station's audio streams for the best listener experience:

  • Primary stream - Your main streaming endpoint. This is the default stream listeners will connect to.
  • Backup streams - Add fallback stream URLs for redundancy. If the primary goes down, listeners automatically switch.
  • Stream format - Specify the format (MP3, AAC, AAC+) for each stream.
  • Bitrate - Set the bitrate (e.g., 128kbps, 192kbps, 320kbps) for quality labeling.
  • Quality tier - Label streams as Low, Medium, High, or HD quality.
Stream Health Monitoring

Kastly automatically monitors your stream health. If your stream goes offline, you'll see a status indicator on your dashboard. The system checks stream connectivity periodically and reports issues.

Personality Management

Showcase your on-air talent to engage listeners:

  • Add personalities - Create profiles with name, bio, photo, and role (Host, DJ, Producer, etc.).
  • Edit profiles - Update personality information, photos, and social links at any time.
  • Social links - Add links to Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, personal website, and email.
  • Phone numbers - Add studio lines, request lines, or other contact numbers.
  • Station assignment - Each personality is linked to a station. They appear on the station's page.
  • Reorder - Arrange the display order of personalities on your station page.
Schedule Management

Help listeners know what's on and when:

  • Create shows - Add shows with a name, description, day of week, and time slot.
  • Assign hosts - Link shows to personality profiles.
  • Weekly recurring - Schedules repeat weekly by default.
  • Time display - Schedules are shown in the listener's local timezone for convenience.
  • Edit & delete - Update or remove shows as your programming changes.
Tip

Keep your schedule up to date! Listeners use it to plan when to tune in. An accurate schedule builds trust and keeps listeners coming back.

Embed & Domain Settings

Embed your station's player on external websites and control access:

  • Embed code generator - Generate iframe or JS snippet embed codes with customizable size, theme, accent color, and autoplay options.
  • Live preview - Preview the embedded player directly in your dashboard before copying the code.
  • Domain restrictions - Toggle domain locking to control which websites can embed your player.
  • Wildcard domains - Use *.example.com to allow all subdomains.
  • Save settings - Domain restrictions are saved to your station and enforced server-side.
